While it is impossible to completely remove all risk from adventurous developmental play, BigPlay develops its cubbies with reference to Australian Standard AS4685.1-2004 “Playground equipment - General safety requirements and test methods” to ensure that best design practices are followed. Some of our safety features are as follows:
- Fully framed, opening Polycarbonate windows on 2 walls.
- Fixed perspex window on rear wall.
- ‘Smooth’ design - no projections to grab or trap little bodies
- All fasteners flush to the surface - no screwheads to snag on skin or clothing
- Doorways constructed with a 12mm gap around all edges to protect little fingers from being crushed
- Doors latch with concealed magnets - no catches to grab children as they run past
- Double doors to minimise the chance of ‘door slam’ injuries
- ACQ timber treatment - although more expensive than alternatives is widely regarded as the safest treatment system currently available. To further protect your children, the ACQ treated timber is covered with up to 4 layers of high quality latex paint. For more information about the ACQ treatment, please click here.
